Each new phone you set up uses one key.
Mindscript shares the payment details with you. Your keys are added as soon as the payment is confirmed.

How keys work

  • One key per phone, used when a new phone is set up.
  • A dual-SIM phone has two IMEIs but is still one phone, so it uses one key.
  • Setting up the same phone again after a reset uses no key.
  • Keys are not returned when a phone is removed, even a test phone.
  • With no keys left, new phones cannot be set up. Phones already set up keep working.

Lock screen and protection

Phones pick these up the next time they connect to the internet.
A branch's own phone number, when set, replaces this on that branch's phones.
A phone that has not reached Qistify for this many days locks by itself, so blocking its internet does not keep it unlocked. 0 turns this off. Default 7.
After a factory reset, financed phones (Android 11+) ask for one of these Google accounts before they can be used. Each is a 21-digit number starting with 1, not an email. Up to 5 accounts. Mindscript's account is always added as well, so a reset phone can never be locked out completely.
How to find your Google account number Open my Google Maps contributions
Signed in with your shop's Gmail, the address bar then shows your number after /contrib/. If the link does not open your profile, follow these steps:
  1. On a computer, open google.com/maps signed in with your shop's Gmail.
  2. Click your profile picture (top right), then Your contributions (on some screens Your profile).
  3. Look at the address bar. It shows google.com/maps/contrib/112233445566778899001/...
  4. Copy the number after /contrib/ and paste it above.
On a phone: Google Maps app, profile picture, Your profile, Share profile. The shared link has the same number.

Dealer PIN

Opens dealer controls on the phones themselves.
On a phone that is not locked, tapping the shield icon 7 times opens dealer controls (lock, unlock, offline code). They only open with this PIN, which the phone checks with the server, so dealer controls need internet. Without internet, use an offline unlock code instead. Without a PIN, dealer controls stay closed. Keep it private: it is not shown again after saving.

Google Drive

In Google Cloud console create an OAuth client of type Web application and add this redirect URI:

S3 storage

Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2 or Wasabi. Use a key that can only read, write and delete in this bucket.

Encryption key

Backups are encrypted with this key's public half. The private half downloads once as a file. Keep it offline (password manager and a USB stick). Without it no backup can be restored, and Qistify cannot recover it.
  • Every table is backed up, CNIC photos included, all from the same moment.
  • Each backup is checked row by row, encrypted on the server, and its checksum is compared with what each destination stored.
  • Mindscript gets an email if a backup fails, or if none worked for one and a half scheduled periods.
  • To restore, download a backup under Stored backups and run the restore tool with the private key (docs/BACKUP_RESTORE.md).

Schedule

When automatic backups run. Pakistan time. Each backup goes to every destination that is on.

Set up a phone

Scan with the customer's new phone
  1. Phone is new or factory reset. During its setup, skip Google sign-in and connect to WiFi.
  2. Samsung: pause Auto Blocker (Settings, Security and privacy).
  3. Scan this QR with the phone's camera, or open , and download Qistify.
  4. Open Qistify, sign in with your shop account, pick the branch, and follow the steps (Wireless debugging and a pairing code).
  5. When it says "Phone set up", the customer can sign in to Google. Then find the phone here by IMEI and save the plan.
Phones without Google services: factory setup QR
Only for phones without Google Play (for example some Huawei and China-market phones). On phones with Google services Google blocks this method for financing apps. Use the steps above instead.

  1. Factory reset the phone.
  2. On the first welcome screen, tap the same spot 6 times.
  3. Connect to WiFi if asked, then scan this QR.

  1. Install Google Authenticator (or any authenticator app) on your phone.

  3. Enter the 6-digit code the app shows for Qistify.

Suspend portal access

Every login of (owners and branch staff) is blocked immediately and sees the message below. New phones cannot be enrolled. Customers' phones keep checking in, but the dealer cannot lock, unlock or mark payments until you restore access.
